MY POSTPARTUM CARE NECESSITIES
WHY I CHOSE TO SAY “MY” POSTPARTUM CARE NECESSITIES?
There’s a reason why this topic shouldn’t be generalized and that’s because everyone’s postpartum is GOING to look different and that is okay!! I just wanted to share MY experience and what I felt was a necessity for MY recovery. I hope you find this useful and as always, I will link the items I used and loved. If you have any questions or need to reach out to us, go and head over to our CONTACT page.

First off, I will say I didn’t do as much research about postpartum/birthing experience stuff and that was my personal decision. I didn’t want to focus on someone else’s experience and try to fixate on some stuff that may not have been the same and our situation. For me, that was the best decision, that might not be what you’d like to do – again I am only sharing my experience and what worked for ME.

The first item I felt was a great purchase was the Frida Mom Postpartum Recovery Essentials Kit. It’s an awesome way to try most of the products that I am going to talk about in this post without having to commit to buying each one individually. The kit includes four pairs of the disposable underwear, four of the instant ice maxi pads, 24 witch hazel perineal pad liners, one bottle of perineal healing foam, and the storage caddy. For the price, I believed it was great to try all of the items.

Next, I will go ahead and list the individual links for the items I ended up purchasing to continue using for the rest of my postpartum journey.
• Frida Mom 2-in-1 Perineal Ice Maxi Pads are $19.97 // Click Here to Purchase * These are great to have if you don’t know how or want to make your own “ICE DIAPER” like they may do in the hospital.
• Frida Mom Perineal Medicate Witch Hazel Healing Foam is $12.99 // Click Here to Purchase
• Frida Mom Disposable Underwear [Boyshort] are currently $14.99 // Click Here to Purchase * I absolutely LOVED these, I wore them everyday and didn’t feel like I even had to wear other pants over top.

• Frida Mom Perineal Cooling Pad Liners are currently $11.99 // Click Here to Purchase
Moving on to the next products I loved and used by Earth Mama. So, the Earth Mama Organic Nipple Butter is amazing. I used it SO SO SO much in the beginning of my breastfeeding journey and I still use it whenever needed. We have recently found that we needed to remove dairy from Maverick’s and my diet. If I would’ve know that sooner, I would’ve used the VEGAN option they have. I can’t even begin to express for my love with this brand, it’s so amazing they have that vegan option. This product is petroleum, preservative, and lanolin free; plus you don’t need to wash off before nursing! We love a good, clean brand in this house.

Next, I used the Lansinoh brand for a couple of items. I used the Lansinoh Stay Dry Disposable Nursing Pads and really like them. They have the option to stick to the bra, but I chose not too, I felt it was easier not stuck to the bra. These were comfortable to wear (*not itchy like others I tried), had a waterproof lining and they truly absorb a ton! I also used the Lansinoh TheraPearl 3-in-1 Hot or Cold Breast Therapy Pack. The cold therapy helped with the engorgement and the hot helped with my clogged ducts. The design is great, as you can use it with a breast pump.

Then, we have probably one of my best/favorite purchase is the Bravado Nursing Bra. I ordered quite a few different ones and didn’t find one I LOVED, until this one. It felt supportive, was easy to nurse in, and I love the materials. I have a small and a medium, but prefer the size small. I was a 32D before pregnancy at the beginning of my pregnancy and by the end of my pregnancy I was a 34DD, for reference. They also have some helpful sizing charts online also.
• BRAVADO! Designs Sustainable Maternity & Nursing Bra range from $29.60 to $35.00 depending on the color // Click Here to Purchase
Another great purchase were the Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads. I used these for my “padsicle sub” situation. Look this up if you have not, most of the items I have listed are what I used for mine. The witch hazel in these really helps to soothe and protect the irritation.
• Tucks Cooling Pads, Medicated are currently $6.98 // Click Here to Purchase
Another item that you can use is the Dermoplast Pain, Burn, & Itch relief. It has a similar cooling feeling but in a spray. You can also try to get this while in the hospital and take it home.
• Dermoplast Pain, Burn, & Itch Spray is currently $6.48 // Click Here to Purchase
The last item, I wish I would’ve used it more, is the Haakaa Manual Breast Pump. This is seriously so good. I did pump most times with nursing on the other side, but this could’ve definitely been better in some circumstances. I felt I needed to pump so much, but I wish I would’ve just understood that my body knows what it needs to do.
• Haakaa Manual Breast Pump is $12.94 // Click Here to Purchase
