MEET THE MAMA BEHIND HOUSE OF MAMA CO.

WELCOME!!

Hi, I am Alexis! I am a new mama to my son, Maverick. I am from a small [now growing] town in Florida [YES – Near Disney & the beach]. I have worked since the age of 17 and when I became a mama, I knew I had a choice to make between these two options below.

  1. Send my son to daycare
  2. Become a stay at home mom + find something I love to do at home [SPOILER ALERT: I CHOSE THIS OPTION!]

I really found it difficult to imagine myself not working. After I wasn’t able to continue my career at home with a company I had worked at for the last five years, the decision became even clearer to me. Still looking for other positions that I would be a great mama and also manage working from home, but nothing ever seemed like the right fit for me.

I was defeated, but not ready to give up my dream of getting the best of both worlds with my son. Being able to have this time at home with him has been amazing, challenging, and really just all of the things. Don’t get me wrong, I am so incredibly grateful I have this opportunity to be with him. So many moms out there make this job of being a SAHM look so easy and effortless. I often felt a lack of adult interaction being at home. I wanted to feel that sense of community somewhere, be able to reach out to some other mama’s for help/advice or to just feel like we could all talk about our wins! MAMA GUILT WAS REAL at times and I felt it HARD. I questioned my decision of staying home so much more than a couple times, but things have a strange way of happening and showing you, THIS IS MEANT TO BE..

Which is what lead me to start on this journey to create this blog where I can make everyone [not just mamas] feel they are not alone, share things I learned, things we love, and inspire others. Thank you so much for being here and coming along for the ride with us!
